After I read this book, I ordered 10 additional copies for my IT staff, as well as for the website redesign team.There are so many negative things said about SharePoint, many of them deservedly so about the earlier versions (2007, 2003, etc.), but this book dispels any concerns an organization may have about using this platform for intranets and/or public-facing websites.
After our website redesign team (most of them non-techies) read this book, they readily agreed that the best choice for the next iteration of our public-facing website should be built on SharePoint 2010. The description, which the authors wrote in lay terms, of the extraordinary new search capabilities in SP2010, was among the big selling points.
(BTW, we have been using SP2007, and earlier SP2003, for our intranet for four or five years; and our communities/social networking platform is built on SP2007.)
